The Flutewise Team have become great experts devising wonderful creative activities for groups of flute players of mixed standards. Some of them have been included in the book.

Hungarian Round and The Purple Cow poem

We’ve had so many incredible performance pieces created by young flute players using this simple round, the poem, body percussion and movement.

Rock a my Soul

Is a straightforward round but movement and stamping can really bring it to life and audiences can join in.

Canon of Peace/ Cossack Ride

This is a beautiful piece that can be turned into a fantastic performance piece by ‘layering’ the various sections. So easy to play from memory which can really enhance a concert item.

Atarah’s Flute Story: The Pied Flautist of Hamelin

Atarah Ben Tovim was such an inspiration to old and young flute players alike. This story was used on several Flutewise events. It’s perfect for involving lots of players of all standards and there is the opportunity for audience participation. It’s also perfect for involving young children who might be interested in starting to learn to play or very beginners.

Fun Musical Activities

Although all of these activities are huge fun and youngsters love playing them, they are extremely musically educational.

Have you ever tried playing Musical Statues or Musical Chairs with flute players. Not only does these games encourage listening but they can be a huge confidence builder for the person who is chosen to perform the music - they are performing without realising.

What Degree of the Scale is it Mr. Wolf? Was developed to help some young people learn the degrees of the scale before their Grade 5 theory exam. It really worked!
